# Skill brief: package-to-skill

Recipe: Learn from your peers (https://aiforscientists.eu/recipes/03-learn-from-peers/)

Build a skill for my own setting from this brief.
If you have a skill-creation skill or tool, use it.
Before you write anything, ask me each question under "Local details", one at a time.
Do not guess an answer; if I do not know one, leave a marked TODO in the skill.
Keep every rule under "Never" in the skill you write.
Write the check under "How to check the output" into the skill, so that it runs every time.
Then run the skill once on the test case and show me the result.

## Purpose

Turns the documentation of a software package into a skill an agent can load.

## Inputs

- The package's documentation and examples.
- The tasks users most often do with the package.

## Output

- A skill with the instructions for the common tasks, and one worked example.

## Steps

1. Read the documentation and examples.
2. List the common tasks.
3. Write instructions for each task, with the functions to call.
4. Add one worked example that runs.

## Local details

1. Which package, and which version?
2. Which tasks do your users do most?
3. Who maintains the package and can review the skill?

## Never

- Never document functions that do not exist in the stated version.

## How to check the output

The package maintainer reviews the skill, and the worked example runs.

## Test case

A package you maintain. Ask a new user to do one task with the skill.
